need help with ableton live return tracks

Post by xxmmxx »

Hi everyone,

I need some help with ableton live please, in particuar the return track.
Lets say I have a drum loop in a midi track, which is routed to a return track with a flanger in it. The problem is that that I seem to hear both the dry audio as well as the flanged audio, but i want 100% of the audio to be flanged. I can upload a pic if I'm not making any sense :)

thanks

By default when u use sends you hear the both outputs, the drumploop track + return track

if u want only the flanger effect on the drum loop you can put it directly as an insert effect, no sends.

You can also route the drumploop track to "sends only" instead of the master.

Or you could set your send channel to pre fx and put down the fader from your drumploop track.
minimal my ass !

If you want to make a particular signal 100% wet, its probably better to process just that signal. In other words, use the flanger as an insert. If you are doing something funky, like trying to add a signal to a flanger that is also processing other sends, you can do this in Live pretty easily.

In the I/O section. Audio To->Sends Only. Disables the sounds output to the master channel.
