Re: Different bpm..
most dubstep is around 140, and quite a lot of it these days uses 4/4 kicks (or slight variants) rather than the garagey half step thing.tone-def wrote: Most of that is hip hop tempo and i think he wants some 4/4 kicks.
I think it's definitely worth investigating.
A few tracks/artists that might fit in that description:
Dimitri Andreas - Tiger (James Ruskin Remix)
R-Play - Reduce 2
Ortin Cam - Omerta
Kenny Larkin - Paranoid

Re: Different bpm..
Start making your own. I dont know anyone who makes minimal over 135.MagpieIndustries wrote:Yeah, that's it exactlytone-def wrote: you want 140bpm techno which isn't hard and your complaining about 125bpm minimal been weak? so you want weak music at 140bpm? But you don't like weak
Aren't genre names a bitch... describing music too, I know roughly what I want but don't really know how to describe it. If I could, I'd say "something that sounds like X and Y" but I don't know.. I am chasing something that is driving, and dark, with repeatitive sounds and short loops.. some distortion and crunchy noise samples, bit reduction maybe, but minimalistic with little melodic content, vocals and chords. Something that is not drowning in open hats and crash cymbals either (this seems to dominate the hard techno/schranz that I've heard anyway).
I've been listening to Robert Hood all day, and while some of it is pretty grim and dark and just what I'm after, lots of it is quite 'detroity' and not really my thing, so, I have mixed feelings for that.
Please help out with some recommendations, if you can, and lets avoid the trap of genres and subgenres..
