.AMS and Live simpler / sampler

Post by Opuswerk »

Hello!

I've been looking around trying to find some good info about that .ams format for live. For those who don't know about it; AMS stands for (Ableton Meta Sound).
They are basically antialiased waveforms that you can load into the simpler, sampler, or operator of live. This turns every simpler in an oscillator of some sort. Thus allowing you to create pretty fat synths with as many oscillators as you want :D

More detailed info can be found here :

I've been trying to generate my owns, especially saws, but without any real success yet. So I was wondering if any of the knowledgeable persons here could help me out at creating some nice .ams :D

I hope someone can shed some light on this matter here.

Download the little standalone app (Mams) on Monolake ( Robert Henke) website.

Thanks I do have this one, but i can't get my head at getting it to generate a saw.... I mean i play with it and bounce everything i find interesting, but its not like i'm controlling the thing....

btw i'm a noob to when it comes at what harmonics are generated by what waveform. I'm more of a "if it sounds good it's good, and if it doesn't keep tweaking" guy.

this would be wavetable synthesis, right? with monolakes tool creating a single cycle of a waveform with user-specified harmonic content? couldn't you do the same thing in any softsynth that permits you to import a waveform?

I would explain it, but i think the links i posted explain it far better than i do.

But you said it well, it basically turns the simpler into a synth instead of being a sample player.
