RELEASE INFO:
The Minieta EP from German producer Safir brings the Berlin minimal sound together with elements of the dub techno that is currently rocking Detroit. The opening track, Dharma, with its prominent synth stabs, sits somewhere in between a Carl Craig-style builder and a deep Echospace jam, and set the tone for the whole album.
A relentless bassline pounds through Djinga, while the sounds of the city – cars, machine, vocal snatches – create a rich soundscape to get lost in. Before the rhythmical energy of Kalamassi, snaps you out of it.
With it’s huge 808 kicks and cinematic collage of sounds, Lucky Number, together with the relentless groove of Martha’s Bottle, forms the heart of this album.
Senior Dito provides a break from the rigid structure of the previous track. A nervous energy keeps the track together, but elements slip and slide around with a loose funk.
Not only is each track impressive in its own right, but the album hangs together perfectly. Each track leads smoothly to the next creating a fascinating journey. The journey ends with Buluppa. Certainly the most intense track here, it fuses infectious groove and deep rhythm with industrial clangs and crunches to create a menacing yet utterly danceable track. The perfect way to polish of this very impressive release.
