JACEN SOLO . live pa . frequency radio . 07.02.08
Doug Adamson was launched onto the electronic music scene by the esteemed AI Records, with his debut EP 'Forbidden Medicine' in 2004. As 'Jacen Solo' Doug creates a modern fusion of Electro, Techno, and Electronica/IDM, largely inspired by the original 'House and Techno' scene that took the world by storm in the late '80s, early 90's. Although Adamson has been involved in music and the industry for some time, it was only after a serious football injury that left him with a permanent condition called 'foot drop', that he finally submitted a demo cd to any label. Having spent the best part of a year being either completely immobile or being confined to a house, he then turned a major negative into a positive by devoting his time, albeit under the influence of countless prescription painkillers, to pressing keys and creating new music. In his short time in the spotlight Solo has already been praised for his production skills as well as his take on the 'old school' sound and the way he delivers it today. He has played for various crowds who all seem to share the opinion that Jacen Solos music feels like a welcome return to past movements and emotions. The latest release from Mr Solo is his debut full length, again with AI, titled 'Virgo'. This is a double vinyl and cd compilation that showcases material from the past 2-3 years. Most recently Doug has been on the road playing live laptop & controller sets as well as DJing at shows in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Glasgow, as well as working closer to home. There is a 4 track EP scheduled soon on Ai with lots of exciting developments being finalised for this year.
