hahaha, well that was todays lesson for me, didn't know he was Cirez D (but must admit that I'm not a fan of that alias either)... and that Väth remix isn't good IMO.

the last DC releases has been so utterly bad and uninspired compared to the back catalouge that i've completely given up hope for the label, and along comes Total Departure.. with complete lack of attitude and musical creativity.

we get the most basic of rythms, cheap "throw-your-hands-up-in-the-air" arrangements and even a video (!?)..a video so dumb and childish it challenges prydz "call on me" and if you actually like the video i'd reccomend buyi..errr downloading the complete work of Steven Seagal or the American Gladiators dvd box.

What we get musically in this release is the same basic wobbly rubber rythm we've been handed for the last year or so, slow building arrangements with rising one-tone synths building up to crescendo's. hihats carefully programmed on the 3,7,11 and 15 and a kick thatis so smooth and soft it should have a slogan.

there is nothing interesting about this. it's the emperor's new clothes people...and you're falling for it.

i'm very sad to hear drumcode and countless other labels take this path of commercialism and lazyness . straight up harmonic dancefloor tracks that leave nothing for the imagination and opens up the field for even more crap like this. what happened? where did it go wrong? these heroes of old who created such intelligent sound structures and rythm patterns in the past have reduced themselves to nothing but mediocre crowdpleasers.

put some fucking attitude and intelligence in the music, or did people loose both when they got their serato and their beatport account?

that may be, but it doesnt make it any less true. note that im not racking down on the minimal thing here, im talking about TECHNO.

You're treating this like its some new direction for DC. A ton of the back catalog has always been about the hands-in-the-air festival tracks. I'll agree this one may not be on the most creative side of things, but on a huge rig its massive and every once in a while this isn't a bad thing to have. You talk about how this is the emperors new clothes but you couldn't be more far from the truth. This stuff screams 2002 to me and hardly contains any of the new elements in techno like microtonic congas and bullshit like that. I also think it's really funny you're accusing Drumcode of commercialism. It couldn't be any further from it!
