The mini anniversary 010 belongs to newcomers Solar & Poppcke. Daniel Solar and Marc Poppcke are part of a new generation of German electronic producers, who have been heavily influenced by the musical developments of recent years. Poppcke has only just turned his back on Hanover and moved to Berlin’s Friedrichshain, whereas Daniel Solar has remained in Hanover. After some solo works, collaborations on remixes and sporadic contributions for various labels, their debut EP "Useless Beauty", on meerestief LTD, is the beginning of a flood of releases, that are already in the pipeline. No question, Solar & Poppcke are hot.

„Useless Beauty’s“ sweet melody fuses with the pads into one graceful piece, perfect for the moment when the sun is setting with a red glow during the coming outdoor festivals. Alex Niggemann, who together with Marc Poppcke, opened meerestief’s House department moonpool, with the EP „L’aurora“, sticks very close to the main motif in his remix, but adds a kick drum that has more thump and a mightier deep bass – the intention is the same. Goose bumps.

On the B-side, Solar & Poppcke’s inclination towards atmosphere, elegance, harmony and musical conclusiveness is deepened. Starlit skies, manages to successfully wriggle out of its straight jacket of minimalism, with sublime strings, Deep-House chords and some restrained percussion. Another track for the outdoors. „Kaimar“, on the other hand, first leads us into dark club basements, before showing us the way out into the light with its wings spread wide open. After all it’s a track about „arriving somewhere“ and it wraps up the EP nicely.
