Following the success of last year’s “Nitrogen 2 Oxygen 1” EP for Siteholder Records and the recently released “Filthy Fibber” EP on UnCut, the duo of Billy Dalessandro and Daniel Mnookin have teamed up once again under the Slutbox moniker to deliver the “Backseat Driver” EP.
Switching up the rotation, the EP kicks off with Los Angeles based producer Jason Emsley’s “Lick It, Smack It, Rub It Down Remix”, a filthy number that no amount of sludge can adequately describe. A subtle, yet effective rhythm section keeps the dance floor busy while the dirty synth overtones grow larger and larger until they have conquered one’s brain synapses. Feeding off of the original vocal and adding some x-rated lines of his own, if Pornographic Techno wasn’t a genre before, it is now.
The original is pure Slutbox at its best. Deep bass, seductive rhythm, addictive loops, and a Spanish guitar combine to make this one another club killer. As if you had a choice, please make your way to the dance floor - the night has begun.
Rounding out the vinyl release is St. Louis via Berlin DJ/Producer Butane (a.k.a. Andrew Rasse). Known for his widely praised work on his own Alphahouse label, as well as top techno imprints Dumb Unit, Num, and Rrygular, Butane has long been a friend of the Siteholder crew and takes this opportunity to make his debut on the remix tip. Deep, druggy, and hypnotic, Butane’s “Percocet Remix” is what one has come to expect from the late night veteran.
Whether it’s early evening, time to jack, or after-after hours, the “Backseat Driver” EP is an all-in-one tech fueled necessity.
