making music with linux, pure data

Post by thump »

does anyone on mnml make music in linux, like with rosegarden? i'm getting really excited about the possibility of turnnig my rig into a dual boot so i can master in ardour.

how about pure data users? on any platform? artists that use it a fair amount that you know of?

I don't see any realistic advantage to using linux audio programs to do anything exept that they handle cpu better.
Right now i run Sonar 4, Reason, Reaktor 4, Lin Plug Albino, waves plugins all at the same time and i havn't been able to crash my programs in windows yet.
that being said:
There is absolutely no logical reason to use a linux program for mastering at all.
If your mixdowns are good all you need to do matering is a limiter and a program like soundforge.
