Hackintosh works?

Post by 9livesto live »

Hallo everyone..

I'm a disillusioned Windows user who wants to try something new.. I've been having the usual unstability, crashes and heavyness problems most of the Win users experience for 2 years... So I turned to Linux, and came back to Win after some month since I was tired of tweakening and not having Ableton. Now I've been reading of people intalling OS X on PC, and getting the whole thing working.

Is some of you making music with hackened OS X? Are things satisfactory? Below you have my hardware configuration, do you think it's worth it?

Thanks everyone in advance!!

I had a friend do it with os 9 but and early editions of 10 but as far as I know you won't find to much on tiger or leapord... it can be done and i saw it run ok but again older versions...

but my advice is to just get a mac.. you'll have a lot less do have to manage as far as hardware etc...

The hard part will be finding compatible drivers for the hardware. Start there and work your way forward.

I have seen stable hacks but it is not something for a casual user.

This is not the best forum for this, you really should concentrate on computer HW forums.

Don't waste your time if it's music you want to make.

Dedicate that pc for production, reinstall XP... remove/disable all the hardware (webcam???) you don't need to run your host. Disable all services not needed too.

You'll have a very stable setup I'm sure.

Buy a 30$ amd 900mghz for the internet.
Anyone serious about music production knows it doesn't make a fucking diff wether you're on mac or pc when producing. You want something that works well with the tools you need. PERIOD

this actually works quite well for what it is.

at least worth a try if you are considering changing OS platforms.
