in LA you need a car. A bonus is that the beach and hte mountains are easy to get to with a car. The downer is that getting around town is not easy without one. I lived there 20 years ago, which wont help with parties now, lol. For non party or hip neighborhood options, i recommend taking in the view from Griffith park or something. The beach is there (visit santa monica, venice, malibu), but i rem the water being cold like hte ost see.
SF is like a 10 hour drive from orange county. Mexico is maybe 2!

It's a trippy little museum where some of the exhibits are real and some are not. If you're into oddities then it's more than worth a visit. They have taxidermy mice on toast.
