[Contexterrior 021] Miss Fitz - Drifting On

Samples:

A: Drifting On
B: Drifting Edit

- the contexterrior debut of maayan nidam aka miss fitz. - follows her past work with raum musik, freak n chic, circus company, and kalamari musique. - includes a self-remix in addition to the in-demand original 14-minute version. miss fitz, who is indeed unmarried, although not of anglo-norman heritage as her surname might suggest, has made quite an impressive mark in the world of minimal techno since appearing on the scene in 2006. after several eps and tracks for a number of respected labels, berlin-based miss fitz joins the contexterrior crew for the release of “drifting on”. a regular feature in her own dj sets as well as label boss jay haze’s since late 2007, this is undoubtedly the most requested track to be released on contexterrior in recent memory, as fans have been sending endless emails and myspace messages demanding to know when it will be released on wax. with “drifting on”, miss fitz holds a séance for the high priestess of soul, crafting a seemingly pure and simple (but deceptively so) slow-burner. the carefree lyrics are delivered by a comforting alto voice, repeated in contrast with the looming synth pads that form a somber, meditative tremolo. miss fitz tastefully processes the vocals while gradually introducing more percussive elements, resulting in a powerfully soothing groove that manages to capture a multitude of moods within its extended duration. on the flipside, “drifting edit” takes a more playful approach, splicing up the vocals and effortlessly integrating them with the housier beats. it’s still smooth and mellow like the original, but with a sunnier vibe and a more assertive flair, geared toward the feet rather than the head.

very much like this. nina simone never sounded so out there  now where's the johnny d remix?
