its worryingly common how often the old guard of anywhere will try to hold back the talent coming through. manchester has been like that for years, almst none of the older guys will ever do anything to help through the next wave.
its almost like they somehow believe that there is only enough room for a limited amount of people, like somehow if they bring through the next kid it will take away form their own sales, or take punters away from their own night, and im sorry, but no-one has a divine right to respect, if you dont stay cutting edge, dont think some kids who were too young for your old records should hold you on a pedestal for your forner glories. thats bullshit.

keep moving or get left behind, if im still making the same records in 20 years i would be wondering how the fck im getting away with it and keep my mouth shut. also who the fck refers to themselves in the third person? some sort of humility is required for people to have any sympathy there i would hope,

if it's any consolation, it's like that pretty much everywhere. everyone always talking about a 'scene' but no one helping another one out but themselves. Luckily there are enough exceptions to the rule.

I think that if a dj, who earns at least a few thousends euros for spinning 2 hours, complains about the commercialisation of the music and thinks out loud about his heros from the past who played in a kitchen for some beers, can only make such point if he starts djing for some beers too.

He can't blame others without blaming himself.
