I would recommend finding an old Korg Mono/Poly or a Roland SH-101

what do you want to get out of it? ambient sounds, rich bass, squelchy?

like it was said before a virus, dave smith evolver or electron machine drum. dave smith also just came out with the new prophet 08 so prices may drop for the evolver. also the same with machine drum, the new model is out so i'm sure you'll be seeing the machine drum mk1's going for less.

dear god no! save your money and buy a analog synth or analog/digital. sounds from synths such as the roland sh201 should be illegal, its an embarisment. seriously your ears and friends with love you if you just hold out and get something with a tone not just noises.

I have both a Virus and a Dave Smith MonoEvolver

they are both amazing machines

I'd recommend both highly to anyone interested in electronic music
