How to remove DC offset?

Post by manzatour »

Hi,
How do you handle with DC offset?
I'm trying to remove it from a recording with Sound Forge, but for the moment no success.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

there's a button in SF to remove it.

Yes, it is under "Process" -> "DC Offset"
I did a scan and applied the DC Offset but the noise is still present.
Am I doing something wrong or should I try with another tool?

Maybe scanning with a frequency analizer and then removing the frequency with an EQ?

It is not a background noise/hum generated by electricity?
Similar to ground loop?

nope, it has to do with a signal offsetting from zero. when a record has a high offset you can't normalize it to it's max because the sole offset is comsuming headroom.

use a notch filter to remove the ground noise. atleast some.

Ohoo now I understand

I'll try to find the frequency of the noise and "dig" a hole with an EQ and hear what happens
