Is there any advantage to keep percussion or other samples in stereo if left and right channel are the same ?

btw, sorry for hijacking but is there anyway to record mono in ableton cause so far i tried everything and i cant seem to figure it out.
Put the utility on the master channel and set the width to 0%. There is a preset for it too under the utility effect.
