Boredhousehusband-Berck Sur Mer (house, not so minimal!)

Post by boredhousehusband »

Hi everyone,

Any feedback appreciated for this track

It's about the second track I've made, only been producing 2 months or so. So all feedback welcome, I am quite pleased with this but know it could be a bit cleaner and sharper maybe, appreciate any comments, thanks.

Considering you have been producing two months, well done its a good effort.

I dont like the percussion at all. The sounds fit together sonically but musically there not doing anything for me. Theres no variation, and it gets repetive to soon. Everything seems to be fighting to be upfront, take the bongos down in the mix a bit.

Bassline? I couldnt hear one.

I really like lead synth sound, and also the flanged percussion thing that comes in.

The structure kinda kills it for me. It doesnt really go anywhere.

Oh and take it easy on the reverb with the stab type thing.

As an excersise take one of your favourite songs, and copy its arrangement.

I know thats a lot of criticism but i thought its better to give you some ideas of what to look for next time.

Keep it up though.... youve got potential!

thanks a lot for such detailed, honest feedback.

I thought the "main synth" is the bassline, to me anyway! And that the arrangement was one of the few strengths really. I did that quite instinctively based on what feels right for me, but I will certainly consider different arrangements.

I mean, I don't consider these "tracks" as such right now, more little lessons. Thanks again for the tips :)

One thing that you could do is layer a Sine wave Sub under the main synth to give it extra bottom end.
