This is the first sample of what is to come from the Junkbeats Digital label. Various in name and in nature is the aim of this first ep. The release is from an Australian cohort of producers and artists that will be the fundamental building blocks of this label based in Byron Bay, Australia.

Recently Junkbeats won the Quartz award www.qwartz.org for the 20for7 ‘ripple effect’ on the French label Chocoflash taking out “Dance floor” track of the year 2007.

JKBD001 SAMPLER #1:

Track listing:
1) Dave Basek & Phil Smart “Caliente” >>(Following on from the success of the ‘ripple effect’ remix on Chocoflash recordings, label heads Dave Basek and Phil Smart have collaborated on this gritty jacked up tech house tune that will surely develop punters interest in their swag of tracks set up for future Junkbeats releases.)

2) Fo_Sek “Living Studies” >>(The deep minimal house of Dave Basek’s and Ed Functions alter ego of ‘Fo_sek’ may lead you to think that life on Australia’s east coast town of Bryon Bay is set to ‘chill’ but don’t let the soft pad sweeps and distorted keys fool you. Heady pleasures await you on Dave and Ed’s outing. Previous releases of Fo_sek’s “Heedron” can be found on Kriece’s Kindred Sounds recordings.)

3) Headland “Dub School” >>(EQltd Grey was the last time the Dave Basek and Phil Smart’s “Headland” alias saw the light of day. This time, hints of reggae meander though the echoing depths of the studio monitors to the late night dancefloors.)

4) **digi bonus track** Jimi Polar & Phil Smart “Broken Head” >> (This is the first taste of a string of collaborations that are to come from the vaults of Jimi Polar and Phil Smart. This first outing Breaks track shows the influence of Phil Smart’s many years on the West Coast of the USA. The track’s warped synth outing builds in intensity when you least expect it. A strong track for the head strong among the dancefloor.)

Format: Digital only (Beatport)

Feedback: Deepchild (Future Classic) “ Basek is so hot right now”

Upcoming Release in May: JKBD002 Sampler #2 will feature Basek, Jimi Polar, Ed function and Deepchild.

All the best
