LOGIC + Midi Controller w/knobs

I use Logic on PC. Can anyone please give some advice on mapping the controls on my Evolution X-Session to parameters within Logic. I'm most concerned with hands-on control with VSTs. Drawing in automation is so tiring and unspontaneous.

I'm not the most MIDI-minded person and the 'environment' section of Logic is a whole other world from making music (or so it seems).

So thanks for any advice...
