nice one plaster !
there was a series on UK television recently called 'How Music Works' and it really covered alot of ground on the basics of rhythm, composition, how bass works etc.
it was an excellent introduction to anyone who wants to dig a bit deeper, and gain a greater understanding of whats going on when they write music.
i think theres a book that goes with the series, i'll find out, and post a link.
