It doesn't matter whats important to me... this is just a forum for everybody to talk about any issue they want. Why should anyone of "importance" be put above anyone else. Or is Pheek's opinion/complaint's more relevant and worth discussing than anyone else's? I think it's really weak on the part of whoever stickied this. Lot's of people talk about things other people share.

Myspace player quality is so shitty. I think it would be painfully obvious if DJ Nobody is playing the latest M_nus or whatever and it sounds like complete ass. Actually...I was just using that as a made up example but now that I think about it, that happened with the beyer remix of Baby Kate.

I do agree that people should keep tracks to themselves unless they get the permission of the artist. But, in fairness...a lot of people are eager to download these upcoming hits off of slsk and other p2p programs because they don't want to wait. Richie is notorious for this. When Lemon 8 finally did get reissued on his Plus 8 imprint, you couldn't even play it anymore. Same with "Seeing Through the Shadows."

I'm all for a small period of promo action before a release comes out, but more than a few months tops is ridiculous.

Agree!! A lot of artist are promoting their tracks too early before the release date. With that they are creating the "desire" on people to have that tracks. Obviously if somebody have the chance to get one track before the release date they wont think twice imo.

It's kinda funny that Rich burns out the tracks of his own label if you ask me but I guess he will still sell enough to get breakeven or so.

I didn't think it was necessary to stick this, it was just a rant from myself regarding the lack of responsability people have nowadays. I just thought people needed to know our point of view.

This has been discussed so many times, we can move on.

I live in the same city asRich and dont find he burns anything out. He doesnt exactly hit any city every single month to drill in a sound for anyone. Troy might be a different example, but he came through our way this month and played what was really a fresh sound compared to most of our bookings along similar styles. This isnt to take anything away from our other djs, only that he really brought it. There are so many tracks out there that the better djs will always rise to seek out something that nobody else is playing. The promoed stuff that gets circulated is still something the djs want to play for their own.

i guess the burn out syndrome stems from normal consumers listening to too many dj sets from the same djs like magda/pierce/hawtin/ricardo/luciano (add whoever you want) that are on those promo rosters. isn't it normal that they keep on playing those "special" tracks which they deem to be outstanding and which separate them from the rest? i mean, i probably am one of those dj set nerds ( ;) ) and i personally don't buy the records anymore that i have heard too often... maybe that's an approach to that subject one could think about.

back 2 topic: i think making promo stuff (which is supposed to be published at a later stage) available to other people is lame. a friend of mine runs a label and keeps on sending me new tracks, but i'd never even dream of giving those tracks away.
