Studio headphones

Hello,
I need to buy a pair of headphones for arranging some tracks.
I know that headphones isn't the best choiche to produce but i'm obliged since i'm going to live in a flat.
What do you suggest?

Probably a similar thread already exists but unfortunately I didn't find it.

i've got the sennheiser hd25 and i don't like them at all... not a honest sound, too less bass, very harsh stereo field (don't know what it is exactly but this description comes close to what i've experienced with them)...

I read somewhere that Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO work well but I'm worried about sound leakage since it is open. I never tried an open headphone.

Open back are considered to be better for mixing. I have the hd25's and think they sound pretty good.
i always reference with monitors because i have never used headphones that compare loudspeakers.
that said, the more used to my hd25's i get, the better my judgement is with them.

Its subjective to your own taste, but i think the hd25s are clear and neutral, no added flavours.
My reference is some low-end sennheiser headphones, so my judgement could be off..

The downside to the hd25s is that they are not very comfortable when wearing during multiple-hour sessions due to high clamping force.

I have a pair of these for some years now, and they always amaze me.
no coloured sound, very transparant, almost no ear fatigue even if you use them for several hours.
This is supposed to be the result of very low ear-pressure-level compared with most other headphones, even though
this model is closed !

Open or half open models are indeed more recommended for production, but you won't be disappointed if you get the ultrasone pair.

I can also recommend the Grado Labs 375i
I also have been using these for years, and they are also very detailed.
They're hi-fi headphones, so most people say "no-no" upfront, but that's just because they've never heard them.
I've known sound engineers that prefer those over more bigger brand headphones.

Just don't get their cheaper models, they're not half as good as the higher models.

And I have a pair of senheisser HD25's that I like a lot, but personally I'd never use them for production.
They're the perfect DJ headphones if you ask me : very lightweight, and repairable if something brakes.
You see them all over the place as well. If you google some DJ's you'll see a lot of people using those.
Not that I care if mr A or B uses them, but it does mean it's no sh!t pair of headphones, right ?
