Delete 3rd Birthday
A Techno Odyssey

In the vastness of space, a place so huge you can go three hours without seeing a Starbucks, three years may not seem like the longest of times. But on this quirky little globe, and more precisely in the seaside town of Bournemouth, three years spent dedicated to purely underground electronic music is long enough to have grown a whopping great white beard and bought a pipe.

From the big-league headliners to the trustworthy residents, from our days at Dusk Till Dawn every month to the unique charms of our sessions at The Winchester, Delete has progressed, regressed and generally mutated a lot since we started out as wet-behind-the-ears party cases with a passion for cased-out beats and treats.

Now we must gaze into the future once again, don the spacesuits and tune the ears to some kind of interstellar frequency just to understand the signals blasting out of the mighty AD rig in The Winchester. For our third birthday, we have booked three sonic astronauts with such strong space-legs they can get their groove on in zero-gravity.

On headline duty is Bodycode, also known as Portable, otherwise known as Alan Abrahams. The techno visionary matches his African roots to an unbridled passion for the endless futurism of electronica, utilising the intense polyrhythmic mindfuck of traditional tribal percussion to create utterly insane but completely danceable tracks that exude an old-skool warmth without ever treading on old ground. We’re carting him all the way from Lisbon to bring a touch of multinational craziness to our homely hoedown.

He’ll be joined by the man like J-Lab, a brother in arms of ours since a very early stage, and yet somehow only just making his Delete debut. From his tracks on our netlabel Alt Recordings to his live appearances all over the world, we’ve never been any less than blown away by the sheer melodic bliss of his music. It’s funky, groovy and deep, but it can still generate mass hysteria through simple quality musicianship. He may have legged it to Berlin but there was no way we wouldn’t drag him back over to drop some science on your party-hearty asses.

As if that wasn’t enough, we’ll be welcoming back down from London the mighty Scrase. After he utterly demolished our last party with an incendiary mix of techno and dubstep, we couldn’t resist booking one of his killer live sets all over again, no doubt primed to belt the party well into the next day.

Of course it wouldn’t be Delete without our sturdiest of residents, Sam Smith and Tone Def. Sam will as ever be levelling everything around him with a monster selection of alien techno, whilst Tone will splash his greasy house butter over the crowd early on to get the limbs loose and grooving. We’re also very pleased to have Dan Orchard spinning some records for us as well, with his encyclopaedic knowledge of four to the floor grooves of all types.

A step through to the vault will plunge you into a voyage of discovery, as a rich tapestry of leftfield dance music gets thrown down by wisened selectors. For every electro-funk jam, there will be a Dubstep head nodder. For every hell-raising house anthem, there will be a broken beat belter. It’s the room to get yourself schooled in.

As you know full well with us, the pre-party hype blurb only scratches the surface of the joy, wonderment and chaos that erupts on the night, but when the hype is this strong, there can be few reasons to question your actions as you submit yourself to the freaky disco dancing cult of Delete.
