German Bastian aka Baaz is one of those melomaniacs who were introduced to electronic music during their youth and impacted there forever. His interest to Daft Punk, hip-hop and sounds of Basic Channel and Playhouse labels was advanced by serious passion for US house of Moodymann and Theo Parrish, and soon he started releasing his own deep house music with a fascinating urban American feeling, surprisingly authentic. Some of his EPs may be found on Agnes' label Sthlmaudio Recordings, his tracks appeared in a couple of mixes of top-house-djs, but we're convinced that for the promising name of Baaz it's only the beginning of the story.
Your city. Würzburg, in the south of Germany.
First record bought. Thomas Bangalter - Trax On Da Rocks.
When (where, how, etc.) did you start deejaying? Around 98. In the age of 16. I was really influenced by a little house-club near my city, ”Planet House”. They played a lot of vocal and french housey stuff!
Number of records in your collection. Around 2200 records.
Role model. No role models but much respect for electronic artists like Thomas Melchior, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Pepe Bradock etс.
The most important thing while mixing is… Good monitors, Jagermeister!
My strongest fear is… That i can’t find a connection to the crowd.
Thing which is always with you on the journey. Headache pills.
When I'm not busy with music I... try to finish my studies till summer.
Track you're currently working on. Coming up the next two months:
Baaz- Pass It On Ep (Quintessentials07)
Duijn and Douglas- Cat Concrete (Baaz ‘s Cat O’Nine Tails Mix/Nowar 02)
Music is... 24 hours per day in my head!
Your top-5 (of the moment):
1. Ultrakurt- The Texas Chainsaw Massage
2. STL- Silent State
3. Baby Ford- Gravy Train
4. Anton Zap- Outside Ep
5. Losoul- Up To The Beach
