Purchase: Soma // Beatport // More to follow...

Australian Joe Stawarz returns to Soma Records with a deep, delicate and thoughtful EP. Ambivalent also steps onto Soma with his first direct involvement on the label with two exquisite, but very different remixes.

Joe's previous EPs on Soma have masterfully balanced the deep, watery sounds on his Cry track, with the drive and skipping rhythm of Deep Cut. Tact and restraint are key to his productions and it shows a maturity beyond his youthful years.

M17 is one of our favourite tracks of 2012 thus far; a very classy sound indeed, where the track's intricate and refined elements sit over a complex sequence. This complicity is underpinned, with a solid and dancefloor orientated groove. Grundymoth is a different beast altogether, with a darker and rawer feel to it.

Ambivalent brings two interpretations of the M17 original. The Byways Mix turns M17 around in a very skilled manner. He changed the melody entirely, but brings his own hypnotic feel to the track. This rework is quite a trip and one for those special points in the night. The Highways Mix shows a little more weight and swagger – a sure fire winner on the floor.
