Hold up! There's a new beat on the request line. Ow! For Sure Baby. The lead track on Clio's first offering for Metroline is pure pump and grind. Sweet up-front vocals float over a seriously sexy beat, complete with 808 percussion and lush reverb. For those less in touch with their inner disco lover, the Dub Mix strips a layer or two away and focuses all your attention on that heavy rhythm.
The Corridor's brutal, off-key synths will appeal to fans of Redshape's no- nonsense approach to dancefloor mayhem, but they also bring to mind the tweaked jams of Rustie and HudMo. While those woozy, unbalanced synths are its most striking feature, at its heart is a solid, driving rhythm that guarantees an excellent reception on the dancefloor.
Anyone who has mastered the Hoola Hoop knows its all about keeping a nice smooth rhythm and working that momentum. And this track certainly does that. Fresh snares and hats bounce over a Peace Division-style groove, while atmospheric vocal stab and infectious synths demand your attention.
A deeper house groove infuses Sliver Haze, a track that would have blown minds at Twilo back in the day - the sound of a hot, sweaty summer night in NYC bought up-to-date with clean, simple production and an ear to the Plastic People dancefloor.
