Open Records is proud to present their final release of the year, with rising star Population Zero’s Comun EP.
Born in Romania, Florin Balan is a classically-trained musician and teacher who has been producing music in various styles and forms for around two decades. His first band La Creme had some success in his native Romania, playing fusion, jazz and electronica – but after discovering dance music in 2007 he hasn’t looked back, producing under names like Difuzor, The Nobodies and Adverb.
Now based in a studio in Tenerife, Spain, Florin’s most recent guise Population Zero is a wicked blend of intelligent, deep minimal techno and house, with previous releases on labels like Dekomatic, Vekton Musik and Sunplay Records.
This 5 track digital EP showcases 3 original Population Zero tracks, packaged together with two remixes of the title track Comun by talented Brazillian producers Freakslum and Krinimal Groove. Both Kriminal Groove and Freakslum are part of the new wave of Brazillian techno and minimal music, with great success already achieved on labels like 11Hz, Presslab, Balkan Connection, Cyborgcrew, Lo Kik and Physical Gravity, among others.
The slightly more driving style of the remixes compliment the original tracks perfectly, completing a great year for Open Records on the digital front. Open thanks you for your support in 2008 and hopes that you enjoy the music as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.
