Audio Dependent is back on Metroline with a groove that don’t stop. Almost a year on from his first outing on the label, Dislocated EP, he’s back with another speaker freakier. And this time he’s come armed with a corking remix from Leftroom luminary Marc Ashken.
The EP opener, Cans, is a superb house beat that brings together a rolling, constantly-evolving tom rhythm that every so often manages to morph into a demonic analogue synth stab, and keeps the energy levels nice and high throughout the track.
Marc Ashken takes the infectious groove of the original and transforms it into a metronomic machine funk odyssey. Big old skool basslines skank their way through the track, taking it back to ’92, while the main theme stalks menacingly in the background.
Mark Ashken has used samples from all the three tracks of this EP to create a unique megamix that stands out from the usual remix concept to create a monster track like you never experienced before.
Pot Plants is a guaranteed floor-filler. Big pumping bassline, squealing synths and tight percussion come together to create an excellent Cologne-style track.
Audio Dependent finishes off the EP with perhaps the most brutal of the four tracks. Understated percussion and subtle hats play around in the space left behind by one seriously big-ass bassline, which drives the whole track forward. Very heavy!
