hailing from lisbon, portugal, syntagma developed some thoughts regarding society, politics, globalization and the impact of economics in the human experience. they gathered some spoken word by several intellectuals such as john cage, muammar gaddafi, alan moore, terence mckenna and eduardo galeano. even though this ep rides along something like mindful soundscapes, deep minimal techno and trippy deep house, syntagma hopes that the listener will think about subjects that are not a common focus of modern dance music -- hence offering a deeper side to the genre. you also get a mesmerizing remix courtesy of doubtingthomas, who hails from london, uk, but was born in france. so go on, let it all sink in, and flow with the groove.

Everything about this release is deep. Even the artist's names. Syntagma, Doubting Thomas... much respect.

In linguistics, a syntagma is an elementary constituent segment within a text. Such a segment can be a phoneme, a word, a grammatical phrase, a sentence, or an event within a larger narrative structure, depending on the level of analysis. Syntagmatic analysis involves the study of relationships (rules of combination) among syntagmas.

At the lexical level, syntagmatic structure in a language is the combination of words according to the rules of syntax for that language. For example English uses determiner + adjective + noun, e.g. the big house. Another language might use determiner + noun + adjective (Spanish la casa grande) and therefore have a different syntagmatic structure.

At a higher level, narrative structures feature a realistic temporal flow guided by tension and relaxation; thus, for example, events or rhetorical figures may be treated as syntagmas of epic structures.

Syntagmatic structure is often contrasted with paradigmatic structure. In semiotics, "syntagmatic analysis" is analysis of syntax or surface structure (syntagmatic structure), rather than paradigms as in paradigmatic analysis. Analysis is often achieved through commutation tests.[1]

I used to have similar thoughts regarding the track called Magic. After I graduated highschool I took a course in marketing and I have been thinking about this stuff ever since... real knowledge in this music....
