[Siteholder UnCut 20] ana+one - La Voix Amicale EP

Post by Brian Ffar »

SITEHOLDER UNCUT

Following the success of Siteholder Records, the Chicago based trio of Billy Dalessandro, Brian Ffar, and Daniel Mnookin turn things up a notch with Siteholder UnCut – a digital sub-label currently sold exclusively through Beatport. Featuring the edgier side of techno that initially established the roots for modern day tech house and minimal techno, expect a riskier sound from a wider range of artists (both well known and up and coming) that is bound to please both one’s aural senses as well as a packed dance floor. If Siteholder is any indication of what these Chicago natives have to offer the electronic music global community, UnCut will only serve to further establish a well rounded foundation of serious beats combined with heady intoxication.

LA VOIX AMICALE EP
Toronto via Montreal via Hamilton Canadian Jesse Morrison is better known in the house and techno community as “ana+one” (pronounced Anatone). Microhouse, a niche genre largely overshadowed the past few years by the explosion of minimal techno, has largely been a Canadian specialty. Following the footsteps of fellow Canada born-and-bred production legends such as Akufen, Jeff Milligan, and Mike Shannon, Morrison’s own brand of blips and bleeps are positioning his ana+one alias to make quite an impact in 2009.

For his Siteholder UnCut debut (the 20th in the series and first release of ’09), Jesse delivers “Box of Donuts,” “Second Time Around,” and “Talking Computron” (both the original and ATOM rework). All four cuts remind us of vintage Akufen, but it’s also abundantly clear that ana+one is introducing a unique cut and paste technique that combines the funkiness of house with modern techno.

The UnCut crew welcomes ana+tone to its ever-expanding roster, and hopes you will enjoy these stripped down treats as much as we did the first time we gave the demo a listen.
