New Minimal Promo's to Check @ Covert..

Post by Richie C »

Some new minimal promos for your listening pleasure...

FRZN007 - Timo Anttila - Nakuta - Frozen North

A1. Nakuta
B1. White Paper

Newcomer Timo Anttila's second release (he debuted on Tactile Music with 'Texture Delivered' in 2003). Cool, detailed and well-produced minimal business for the title track, whilst 'White Paper' goes deeper, atmospherics riding on a bass stab and shuffling beats, with a mixture of dry and wet sounds and backbeat snares.

FRZN006 - Jussi-Pekka - The Dead Serious EP - Frozen North

A1. Dead Serious
B1. Rave Texno (Frank Spatula's A2M Mix)
B2. Rave Texno

Like snow glistening and sparkling in the cold northern sunlight, the title track of this latest offering from Finnish maestro Jussi-Pekka is of crystalline quality, with caveernous sounds and a steady bass throb accentuated by crisp beats. 'Rave Texno' continues in the same vein, with some of that special Jussi-Pekka bounce in the bass and beats (as on his Audiomatique productions), before the crazy jagged synth lines start to cut in at all sorts of odd angles of attack. Frank Spatula remixes this track, laying down straight 4x4 beats but keeping the crazy synth angles for a ravin' head twister. Exciting and fresh - check!

& this brand New Minus 12"

MINUS037 - Berg Nixon - Box Escape - Minus

Minus debut of elastic techno from Detroit's BERG NIXON (aka Ryan Crosson).... As BERG NIXON, Crosson walks in line with the elastic techno dub that has inspired him from producers such as Ricardo Villalobos and Troy Pierce. The A-side title track 'Box Escape' builds up a melody that side-steps bass tones and bendy lines with the middle of the dancefloor in mind. 'New York Minute' swells and shifts in robotic darkness while 'The Depths' and 'Abstraction' rock the B-side to deeper corners of minimalism with distortion, shuffling hi-hats and haunting bell tones. UK gigs scheduled in December. KEY POINTS: Berg Nixon is the Minus alias of Detroiter Ryan Crosson, who has releases in 2005 on Trapez Ltd. & Telegraph. He performs live and also DJ's, heavily influenced by the minimal techno sounds of Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Troy Pierce and Magda.
