ToysForBoys presents the first 12” from Marcus Vector and Lust Addict, following their digital collaborations and solo 12”s for Obsolete and Nomor, featuring two smooth and sleazy originals, plus remixes from Michal Ho (TuningSpork, Get Physical) and Nulleins (Lo-Fi Stereo, Thinner, Karmarouge).

Brussels-based Marcus Vector has made a splash in the European techno scene, not just as a DJ and producer, but also the co-owner and label manager of ToysForBoys Records. Once again he teams up with the skillful Lust Addict AKA Vernon Bara, whose numerous past productions received support from the likes of DJ Sneak, Brett Johnson and Ralph Lawson. Following their co-productions and remixes released digitally by Immigrant and Playground from Lessizmore, Buffalo marks the duo’s vinyl debut.

“Drum Roll in Red” kicks off the EP, an energetic track full of atmosphere, driven by a diverse detailed drum palette, from electro snares to tribal beats. Null.eins offers a different take, introducing a highly melodic acid bassline to craft a totally different vibe, while still retaining the playful percussive elements from the original version.

On the flip side, “We Love to be Yonce” begins with an extended intro based on crunchy claps and snappy toms, building up until the shimmery synth melody drops in, bring a housey vibe to the dancefloor. This one shows the duo’s ability to create a poppier tune without sounding commercial or compromised. Following last fall’s Screw the Coffeemaker album, Zurich’s Michal Ho returns with a solid remix, bringing the track more toward the techno end of the spectrum, but still infused with bounce and mischief, and definitely loads of funk.
