TIC TAC TOE RECORDS
- the Danish label for high end minimal house and techno – is back with it’s 6th release. It’s time for a mini compilation: Four very different but all very talented artists from Detroit and the North, respectively.

BrightLight – Brickwall Baby
BrightLight aka Leif B. Jensen has been doing tests and explorations on a variety of electronic genres in his musical lab in the northernmost part of Denmark. The last 1½ year it’s been all about refining and purifying those pushing, pumping elements of minimal house and techno – and the excellent end product got him signed instantly with Karmarouge. His debut record was voted ‘Record of the month’ in the German Raveline magazine in May 2005. When we started putting together this compilation, there was no doubt in our minds, that Leif’s killer track should be on the A side. Brickwall Baby is guaranteed fuel to the dance floor fire. TTT-owner Patrick Bateman has already tested it heavily all over Europe – every time it hit the sound system, people went absolutely bananza!

Mikael Stavöstrand & Johan Skugge – Lie In The Sun
These 2 guys from Sweden (now living in Berlin/Germany) have been at it for more than 15 years. Between these to guys, a lot of what can be labelled as a Swedish sound in electronic music has evolved.
Through their label Mitek they’re promoting Scandinavian artists to the world with great success. By themselves they’ve released records on Mitek and Onitor amongst others – and their style is a very unique electronic micro house. For this compilation record, we had an absolutely brilliant 10 track demo to choose from – so we had many a long night of listening and picking out at the Tic Tac Toe HQ. We chose ‘Lie In The Sun’, which is on the acid-ish type of house, with a splendid male vocal on top. The name suits the track perfectly. This is lie-in-the-sun music. Ideal for the Sunday beach party, June 19th, Barcelona!

Ryan Crosson – Junk Mail
Ryan is an up and coming artist from Detroit, who has recently signed with Trapez Ltd and also Tic Tac Toe. One day, we received a demo CD out of the blue from Ryan. He forgot to write anything on the CD, but after some detective work, we got back to him. We just had to. Like with the Swedes, we could easily have put together a whole 12” just with Ryan – but we chose ‘Junk Mail’. This is pure minimal techno. Clickin’, poppin, trackin, drumming. RAW!

Mr. Kemi & Amox – Pathfinder
These 2 extremely talented guys from the Copenhagen nightlife have already released several very cool records on labels like MIS, Gold Und Liebe and Lasergun. In the early days, their style was more on the electro side - but lately, they’ve moved into the minimal house/techno area. For this record, they’ve come up with a serious monster of a shuffle track that we just had to sign as soon as we heard them play it live. This track is a KILLER!

Feedback and reviews:

DeBug:

LOD /Klitekture Records:
I must say I got specially impressed with track number one (Ryan Crosson). Its the more rythm oriented track similar to the Pheek release.

Martinez /Out Of Orbig
"Brightlights - Brickwall Baby is an amazing track, been playing it in every DJ set since I got it! Rest of the record was kind of blinded by this track.. so not much more to say!"

Mike Shannon / Cynosure
I like the EP very much, been playing it in Montreal a few times

Frankie /Frankie Records
I like the B1 track a lot, and have been playing it a lot
