This ep will be the second in a new series of eps. featuring different colour dots for each release from new and established artists
to the label. The cover will be printed in fluro pink and features a series of random hole punch dots scattered on the sleeve, photographed and then redrawn. The 150 limited vinyl in transparent pink coloured vinyl available direct from the label. As this will only be available to subscribers to the Ai database. the other 500 black vinyl will be available in all good retailers on Monday 5th November.

NAJEM SWORB
Is a French dj and composer From Strasbourg. He incites his influences to stem from childhood influences such as Herbie Hancock's ‘Rock It’ and Kraftwerk ‘The Robots’ videos. in his teenage years he got into all sorts of music: from Beethoven to the Beastie boys, from Depeche Mode to Public enemy, Prince etc... Among those, a series of artists have left a deep mark in his way of making music: Maurizio, Autechre & Carl Craig.

HYDROCARBON
This latest release sees Ai’s sound forge further ahead this time with its quest to provide forward thinking techno to the masses. From the outset, the ‘Hydrocarbon EP’ heads straight for the jugular with Hydrocarbon itself opening with a wash of luscious synths that are soon joined by a heavy kick that will instantly get your head nodding and your feet setting themselves a direct route for the nearest dancefloor. Najem cites influences from some of the techno greats and Hydrocarbon gives a nod to the legendary Basic Channel but manages to put a modern day spin on their sound rather than just delivering a poor imitation as can so often be the case.

‘Notonly’ and ‘Veladcre’ are both solid groovers that are again focused firmly on the dancefloor. Here the beats do the talking and are compressed for maximum sound devastation while the subtle backround textures and electrifying melodies tantalise your ears with noises that sound like they’re being piped from your local power station. As with this EP throughout, the resulting sound coming out of the speakers is simply HUGE.

The EP closer ‘Teranidian’ mellows things out a little and is a deep atmospheric affair with floaty synths supported by subtle percussion and again takes inspiration from Basic Channel as well as more modern day variations of this sound such as Deepchord or Echospace.

All in all, this is a superb debut release with very high quality production throughout and will leave the listener hungry to devour another slice of this particular musical pie.
