Synthesis - Creating tuned percussive sounds

Post by treeelf »

So I just spent the last 4 hours messing about with both my Moog Little Phatty, and Vermona Mono Lancet attempting to synthesize a sound that is similar in character to the synth in this song.

And so far I have come up with nothing that captures the clickyness of that attack as well as the harmonics in the lower register.

To me it sounds like a nice resonance as well as overdrive in the low mids with a short filter decay and a slight release, but I can't seem to nail it.
Anyone here have any ideas? I havent tried my softsynths yet as it sounds fairly analog to me, but of course I'm totally open to using Massive, or any of the ableton synths to accomplish something similar :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather - nice to not feel bad about being in the studio, am I right?
