Pan pots on mixer Question

Post by eggnchips »

When bring something up on a mixer in stereo over two channels say for example a piece of music, do you have the left pan pot at 9 o'clock and right at 3 o'clock or the left all the way to 7 o'clock and right all the way to 5 o'clock?

you can pan them how you want mate,
you can pan some things hard left and hard right (5 and 7 o'clock) for instance a piece of music you dont want to alter, or a reverb which has already been panned within its own program parameters, or something you want wide stereo,

or you can position individual sounds in the stereo field by panning more to one side than the other (say 9 and 1 o'clock, or very narrow ( 2 and 10 o'clock) etc etc..

try panning your stereo sounds in different ways

if its a stereo track track someone has mixed and your just playing it back for your own enjoyment, you want to left hard left, and right hard right.

when mixing your stuff
go crazy with panpot settings
as said already
try other positions than hard L and hard R
stereo placement can be very effective to widen up your tracks

Thanks. With the question I was referring to bringing a stereo piece of music up on 2 channels, or stereo reverb.
The hard left, hard right was the answer I was looking for.
