Cut n paste trick or midi programming??????

Post by AK »

I've heard a few tracks where a sound ( say a chord ) takes on a rhythmic effect that obviously isn't played in to create it. I don't know how better to explain it but it might be a software/sequencer style 'cut/paste' thing or it might be something like a wavesequencing effect.

Anyway, it's not anything I'm familiar with and it might be really basic but I'd like to give myself more options to experiment with.

A good example of exactly what I'm talking about can be heard on a track by Leif called, 'Long Way Round'. The rhythmic effect on what sounds like a sampled chord comes in right at the beginning and can be heard throughout.

Cheers.

i am at my work at the moment
will have a listen when im at home
but i think you have to look at the choke group function in ableton
or create a rhythmical gating effect
see tutorials on youtube

Sounds like a classic dub chord going through à delay
