sync troubles

Post by mson »

hi,
im in trouble to sync al my gear. Here is the stuff :

tr909 (master)
MC505 (slave)
MPC1000 (slave)

when i sync from midi out 1&2 from tr909 to midi in 1 on mc505 and midi 1 on MPC1000, only the tr909 and mc505 start.

when i sync midi out 1 from tr909 to midi in 1 mc505 and midi out 1 from mc505 to mpc1000, all start but mpc1000's tempo is not right.

what should i check ?
thansk !

yes there is.
Midi sync in : 1 or 2 on mpc. I tried both with no results.

have you tried to use mpc1000 as master for the rolands?
if results from that is still faulty, your 909 eprom version can be older.. mine is, and i need to use midi to sync24 converter with 909 to get proper solid sync

check this: http://www.diprec.com/tr909/tr909.htm

i ll try it but i want to keep the 909 as master because i don't really like how the sequencer reacts when the 909 is slaved (kind of frozen).

dumb question : do i need to make a loop with midi informations ? Start from 909 to mpc (via 505) and then go back to mpc to 909 directly ? Do someone use the 909 with the two midi out cables or i should use a midi patcher (or dynsync with this trouble on the 909 ?

Re: sync troubles TR909+MC505+MPC1000

answer for myself :

yes 505 has one. If you put MC505 on slave through is disable (and cannot be enable) so you have to put MC505 on 'remote' and then throgh could be enable. Now when you start TR909 everything start ... but with each different tempo :/
I wanted absolutely to keep TR909 as master because of sync troubles well known of this drum machine.
Actually i just push myself to change my habits and now i have MPC1000 as master sending midi clock via midi out A&B to MC505 (in slave mode) and TR909 (in slave mode). It works but tempo sync on TR9099 is lost when you will do start/stop quickly on the MPC. Anyway it works like this and it's okay. Maybe i will buy a dyn/midi convertor for the TR909 and try again this start/stop stuff again.

This thread could be useful for people who owns these machines.
