Reaktor & Machinedrum influence & use in minimal

this might seem out of the blue as most of the stuff i post here is.. but when i listen to older minimal stuff, maybe cca 2007 to 2010, it seems they have a lot of similar samples (synthesis) if you know what i'm talking about.. that lo fi harsh percussive weirdness.. from where does it originate? is it reaktor? machinedrum? it sounds like it is all from the same drum synth..

I think there have been some years in which reaktor played a big role in minimal techno, all those plink-plonk random generators with randomizing feature have been overused, after that it seems to me that machinedrum got pretty popular among minimal techno producers, so yes, I think those two influenced the minimal pretty much.
Having used both I can somewhat relate, but I can't comment about microtonic since I don't know its sound.

tone-def; this is perfect. on your site the first track that opens up, leif or something, well i would say that start of that track is what i'm talking about here (among other stuff/sounds).
can you ask the guy what he used there?

One of the carcteristics of minimal electronic music (before this term started to be used for almost everything electronic), was to have structural parts (like bassline, harmony and melody) replaced by elements generated out of noises. Reaktor is very good at this. Sample/loop mangling effects played also an important role.
As far as I know… the machinedrum came later?

tone def said examples. ok. lets see some examples from my sound designer idol lee curtiss.
his track would you still would be a good example of what i mean here, what is that sound, is that reaktor or ableton or something. maybe when he went to germany the guys there showed them the german reaktor thing? damn germans.. because it's not very charachteristic of his sound at all.
also, his track 3 fingers also sounds like it's from one source. anyone know what i mean?
the rest of his stuff sounds more organic.. unrelated, i also appreciate his design work on "the itch", it's a track of a young passionate producer.. i think he's responsible for those good good edits there.

i noticed lee curtiss used one of the granular delays from Reaktor on his track Ketamine Christmas.

Reaktor has some very distinctive sounds, and sometimes it's really obvious, some guys even use presets. There's a Kompakt track somewhere that uses a preset on Akkord. Luciano also used lots of barely changed presets on his early Cadenza tracks.

Dig around in the user library and find the gold, you'll be glad you did. Grainstates SP II , Dieter Zobel Resonnater , Weedwacker !!!
