Record label question - Mechanical rights.

Hey those of you smart in the label business.
How do you get around paying these mechanical rights societies that want money if I press up somebody's music?
(In my case it's STIM)
I believe the pressing plants won't press until they have the permission to do so.

yeah our pressing plant wont press without it.

if youre worried then just get in contact with them and speak to them about it. here in the uk if we provide evidence that you own 51% then you dont need to pay it. if that fails then get a publisher and tell them not to include certain releases.
