eventide

Post by oblioblioblio »

Eventide have released some pedals containing algorithms previously found in extremely high end boxes, like the ubiquitous H3000.

So instead of paying thousands of pounds you can get a little box with proper knob control and even some CV in. (not brilliantly implemented but you can't win them all) for much cheaper (still not cheap though)

Most of them don't interest me, although the Space reverb seems to be extremely popular.

Probably not worth it for ITB box guys becuase you can probably find software to do something similar.

Anyways I've been looking for a delay or reverb or something just to fill in my sound a bit and after a lot of thought I ended up at the Pitchfactor Harmonizer and delay unit.

The sound of this box (or at least the algortihms on it) is all over a lot of very very well known pieces of music. Brian Enos most famous ambient pieces. Robin Guthrie's guitar tones. And a well known Cologne based ambient project.

Just a small heads up. Probably the best investment I've made for a while.

they released a plugin as well

http://www.kvraudio.com/news/eventide-a ... -ins-18048

Seems a bit more pointless in digital cos it's so easy to add voices or polyphony which is bit harder in analogue world. And with reverb I've heard that Valhalla DSP are the best by far.

It might be some interest to someone here or might not be.

It's the exact same algorithms with more control!

if it's even half as good as the big units, it's well worth the money.

I got myself an H8000fw about 1,5 years ago, and I'm still blown away by it every day.
I was only able to get it because I stumbled into more money than all the years before,
but it still felt "weird" paying all that cash.
So in all honesty, I did feel a bit cheated when they started releasing their stompboxes only half a year later...

But up till now, I've never regretted my purchase.
Eventide is breathtaking stuff.
I'll never get bored with mine.
Plus they survive great over the years. It's not like it'll sound outdated in a year or five.
In fact, you should see how many producers have one of the older units in their setup.

if you can get any eventide, go for it.
I urgently need to get me a MIDI controller just for my eventide.

I feel exactly the same way. The Pitchfactor is literally the missing piece of the puzzle in my setup.

I probably wouldn't bother if I used software, I would rather have a crazy Reaktor or MaxMSP patch. But I don't have the patience to do something like that.

Yeah I think the H3000 is everywhere. I noticed the sound in a lot of places.
