how do you create that deep vocal effect?

Post by shubelo »

Hey Guys, how's it going

Been using vocals a fair bit lately and want to get that cool deep vocal affect I hear so much in deep house tracks.

Here is an example of what I mean. At 3:04.

It seems to me there is a left and right vocal, one normal pitch and the other lower/different.

I've been the chamber trio and a few other effects from the Performance & DJ section in Ableton, But they all sound cheap and the same. The vocal effects I hear in all the good tracks are know where near as dull. I was wondering if any one has some tips on this topic or know of some plugings that would help? how to use a vocoder to this effect maybe?

Thanks for any advice.

Same problem here. Been trying to experiment with vocals but all the time having mediocre results. Not only with that "deep vocal effect" but also when I just try to manipulate it and make something cool. Need some tricks and tips!

i think you already layer the vocals in a certain way, but maybe you should try to use a chorus effect.
that can make it quite wide and deep. Also using a good low singer/speaker helps a lot :)

Eventide do really good pitch effects. They have started doing plugins now so maybe it's affordable now?

Formant shifting seems to be what a few people have said to me but I'm not sure how it could be used to good effect. Anyone have tips on this.

Audio Damage Discord 3 is well capable. Not just on vox either, cool plug!

Melodyne seems to be what a lot of people are using at the moment.
