This is why i went patchbay... I have 2. i have it all routed up to my 16 ins. (8 on the fireface and 8 on the ADAT Expansion) Then I just patch them in... i have each pedal on a different patch and i can wire them all together that way...::BLM:: wrote:Well what changed my mind was after being at a friends studio who has one with a load of effects pedals on the auxs and it being so much fun.
its not on AUX's and is a little different because you can't adjust the send amounts but... damn... now i want a mixer for this.

im basicly in two minds. i cant work out if i need a smaller mixer or one of them z16's.

Re: zed 14
mixer and a patch bay is the best thing to have.
i think you could find something cheaper and more flexible than the r16.
the soundcraft M12 is probably better for studio use because it has direct outs for every channel, which makes life easier if you want to mix and record through it.

Re: zed 14
well i just bought the m12. just found one for less the 200 quid, so snatched it right up.
Re: zed 14
well done mate! any ideas about what effects you want?
Re: zed 14
I've done years with a soundcraft FX16.
I bought one 8 years ago for 350, when it was still being sold new for around 1200.
After so many years of use, it's held up pretty well.
One channel died on me, but that was while it was being used for a live act.
A friend of mine used to organize parties and concerts in Belgium.
If I'm not mistaken, Modeselektor blew the channel during one of those events.
And the sub out went dead about 2 years ago, but by then I already had 2 patchbays installed, so even though I did miss the sub, it only took a short while to readapt to the new way of working.
Anyways, I'm just trying to say the soundcrafts are great mixers if you're on a tight budget and don't have too much space either.
Mine will get a well deserved retirement as soon as my midas arrives somewhere next week (hopefully).
