Best book i ever read. It's about the logics of sound and mixdowns.
Why the use of verbs, eq's, speakerplacement, recording etc.

Fun to read, cause it isn't written like it's rocket science
Just wanted to say I'm enjoying this book immensely. I haven't been able to sit with it completely but the few gems/chapters I've read have already transformed my approach to compression and sound space. It's spot on.

He goes on about micing techniques but this info is good too if you think about it there is little difference between micing a drum and using a synth to do it if you are wanting a banging record. cheers!

Exactly :)

I'm glad you like it. Was a bit scared you didn't like it. It's still an expensive book!

This is a truly wonderful book. Plenty of esoteric and ''big picture'' thoughts on Music, mixing, and how humans are musical.

I also recommend this one. He talks about both rock and electronic music. There's an accompanying CD so you can hear examples of what he's talking about. Plenty of very useful illustrations to help you visualized what's happening. There are also stems for 4 full tracks for you to practice mixing. My only problem with it is poor editing. There are just too many typos or awkwardly constructed sentences that kind of distract from the content. But the content is definitely worth it.
