got an issue with my mpc. i lost my smartmedia card and i'm trying to transfer samples to the internal drive but my computer is not recognizing the mpc drive. i have it in usb mode and it just sticks on "do not unplug"
do you need the smartmedia card to transfer samples? i never had this issue before but also never attempted to transfer samples without the card

I'd contact Akai mate, I have had bad experiences with SM cards ( Korg ) Never owned an MPC so can't comment on that but I'd be browsing the MPC forums as this is a technical question.
