Room Treatment......

Following on from the 'Importance of room' thread, didnt want to jack the thread...

I'm in a 3x3.5M room, it can get very bassy, Ive got 2 homemade broadband traps either side of my head (on walls) and Im sat in the 'sweet spot', what other treatment do I need fopr a small room like this ?? I'm thinkin about making my own bass traps for the corners ,I was thinking of blocks of rigid foam boards 100mm thick (Celotex) covered in rigid rockwool boards (cavity bats to be exact) of 50mm, then covering the lot with material.
I dont really know what Im doing to be honest but Ive got it into my head that bass traps need to be dense...
Can anyone shed more light on what I need, ie. cieling treatment, traps behind speakers etc?
Any sort of info would be stella!!!!

Are you a framing master? or trim master? i miss construction so good for the soul! I've made some of my best during those times.

I would look into "superchunks" for the corners... and seems like you are already figured this out... I wasn't willing to go this route because I wouldn't have any room for my gear after installing the huge traps.

Also, if you make a diagram of your room i'm sure ethan winer will give you some info or some other slut there will. There are some other peoples post there with your same situation.

Your room is quite small and almost a square (height is hopefully offset enough) so it will be hard to get rid of the standing waves but you'll be able to flatten out the low end with some basstraps.
Try the 4 corners first, move the traps around and check the results, if you use too much absorption the room might become dead at some point so use some diffusion too and not only absorption.

My room is a bit bigger but still qualifies as 'small'.
The low end (<100Hz) was a mess to begin with, especially bad when you're trying to make judgements on low kicks etc.
I build some rather cheap basstraps using the simple Ikea shelves as frames and filling them up with rockwool before covering them up with cloth.
They work rather well and I improved the dips and peaks to a level where I can work comfortably even if it's far from perfect.
