I bought a TI chipset n'all for my audiofire 12.

Its very stable. I have had no firewire issues at all.

Yeah, but I'm on a laptop so it's not that simple. I've been told that buying a PCMCIA card with the correct TI chipset might not even help, as it doesn't necessarily bypass the computer's internal FW chipset.

Have you ever tried another firewire soundcard? I know some (a lot?) or Firewire soundcards can be picky about chipsets. Mine has worked with every computer I have tried it with.... It has got an external psu, so that might make a difference.

I think you are right about those PCMCIA cards. Quite expensive aswell, i would recommend trying other soundcards before you commit.

Gutted for you though, computers and all the dangley bits are a headache.

Are you on a Mac or PC? I have been having some issues with my new AudioFire 12 using my MacBookPro's built in Firewire port.
