How long have you been producing until first release?

Post by Julius Laurelway »

The subject says it all. It's been three years for me. What about you?

sh!t your music is really tight man. especially some of those organic grooves you were playing me on your cloud.

First release was 5 years into producing... At this point I'd rather hook my friends that are more active in the scene with my tracks than put anything out on beatport. And like opuswerk i'm imagining things have changed in his live which can cause you to rethink your whole sh!t.

First and only track released on a va record after 4 months of producing in 2009. Just taking it easy atm and slowly trying to get some kit on board and thinking of doing my own record label soonish.

Just me.

My first release for fof was in 2007 (our first ever release). I had been making music way before that.

If it hadnt of been for me starting a label I prob would have not released anything. Only this year, 13 years in that I started to work with some other labels.

17 years. Released stuff in the Breakbeat genre when that was kicking, I was 28 yrs old.. I say 17 years because I was 11 when I fist got into mixing tapes onto a 2nd tape deck, for me, that's the beginning time when it comes to music. My mom had this hifi unit that had this button and it was supposed ti switch between 'phono' and 'tape'. but, when you got it halfway, it resulted in a mix of both ( L&R channels panned ) Then, by using the blance knob, I could blend between the two and record it to a further deck in mono.

I got good at this stuff and made mixes for the B-Boys ( Goldie and crew ) up heath Town in Wolverhampton, I then learned Piano and a bit of Guitar. Died a bit then as I grew more into fine art, but always been kinda in and out of it all ever since.

Don't worry about trying to release, or make money, do it co's you genuinely love making music. That concept will free you up and stop you from trying to conform. Music ( in my book ) is art, art is self expression, so just always be yourself.

my 2 cents. :)
