Hang Drum Patch for NN-XT

Post by Shepherd_of_Anu »

Found some website with a plethora of hang drum samples... seem to have misplaced the link atm. Oh wait.. here it is. Someone was nice enough to go through the trouble to record a whole bunch of samples. 108 to be exact. A number of different strikes at different notes.

Some other guy took those samples and spent a few hours making a patch for Reasons NN-XT and put it up on the internet. Here is the link in case anyone is interested.

Its no substitute for the real thing but it put to play with on a pad. I just wish I had more than 16 pads! I can only play an octave and a half at a time and I am too lazy to make a custom scene for now.

The samples seem a little "thick" and sound a little nicer if they are filtered a bit to take the boomyness down and moistened a little.

Oh, came across an interesting hang drum video along the way too.

Its the best free pack of hang samples / patches I have found so far. If anyone knows of others I would like to know about them. Thanks!

edit: btw, the first link has instructions for logic I think.

Looks cool ! I love the hang drum! Too bad its next to impossible to get one. somehow i think it would be hard to mimick the instrument with samples with all the different notes and interactions they have within the steel drum... But Would be fun to map it out on the pads like you've suggested. Thanks for posting!
