steevio wrote:on my speakers there is no bassline in that james ruskin track, it sounds like a 909 kick with no attack and a long smooth reverb to me. there also sounds like theres another sound with a reverse reverb on it making the groove.

lots of techno has no bassline, using a sine sub to beef up the 909 kick was quite common, but this track doesnt sound like its got one to me.
Is that how the tone is achieved? Through the sine wave? Or is it a hit-or-miss kind of thing with overdrive? Some of these techno tracks definitely have a bass "tone" or "key."

I've been messing about with it.

EQ'd a lot of the HI's off the Reverb.. so it definitely sounds bassy. Early days.. But its pretty cool so far. Theres some lfo mod available in the Silververb in Logic, which sounded nice.. subtle changes + Low & grainy.

I've been trying to make sounds like this for a while, but have been making it more complicated than it needed - obviously.

This is just so much more instant. Love how you can just use the same source sound to get the groove happening. Makes sense. Looking forward to trying it with different fx to see what sounds best.

Yeah this thread rox.

I am going to be messing about with gated reverbs and trig controlled reverbs on my Monomachine today, I'll see where I get and report back later.
